A Node Group for creating Hexagonal Grids in Blender 3.1 and above.

  • outputs Curve Grid as default. Unmute (shortcut M) 'Fill Curve' to convert into Mesh Instances.
  • set Hexagon (Curve Circle) radius (HexagonRadius)
  • add/remove Rows(XRepeat) & Columns(YRepeat)
  • two modes for adding Gap between Hexagons(GapValue & GapScale). GapScale works for mesh only i.e. after unmute (shortcut M) 'Fill Curve'.
  • Tab into HexBaseGrid nodegroup to switch on/off Grid Center to Corner of Grid/Center of Grid.
  • Unmute 'Realize Instances', 'Merge by Distance' to convert & optimise Mesh with Instances to single Mesh. Unmute 'SplitEdges' if required.
  • 'Set Material' to individual instance or final Mesh.
  • instance Mesh (Hexagonal) Cylinder instead of Curve (Hexagon) Circle.
  • full functionality of 'Instances on Points' node.
